Higher price for a private tour than a group tour. It is because in the private tour, you have a private car and a tour guide - only one time pick up at your hotel - No one can join in. In the group tour, you have to share the tour guide and bus/van with other tourists. You can not choose the seat on the bus if you are the last person to be picked up. First come & first serve. Other tourists may stay at different hotels and everyday you have to spend extra time on the bus to pick up other tourists. Many Vietnam tour companies say that you have a shared bus/ van for each day to make the cheaper price - But actually it is a join-in group tour. An example, 1 person on 1 boat in Trangan Heritage Site has to pay the same price for 1 boat carrying 4persons because they sell 1 boat and the boat are requested to carry 4persons.

Same Level Hotel with Different Costs: The different prices for the hotels at the same level rated with stars - It means: This 3 star hotel has a different price with other 3star hotels. The price depends on the room quality, food, location and other services of the hotel.

So how do you know a better hotel? Most of you just depend on the tripadvisor reviews and the photos on the hotel website. However, not all the tripadvisor reviews are true because the hotel owner can hire an IT company to write excellent reviews on tripadvisor. The photos on the hotel webisite are not always true because they are photoshopped as well. We have to make the hotel inspection by our service inspectation manager every year.

Note: The hotel rooms are classified into standard room, superior room, deluxe or luxury room, executive room, suite room.... The cost of these rooms is also different. Some cheaper types of room have internal view - it means that there is a window in the room and you may see a wall, but you can not see the outside view from your room. Some even cheaper rooms have no window. CHECK CARREFULLY

The location of the hotels is also a very important feature to make the price. The central location in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Halong, Sapa, Cao Bang, Hue, Danang, Hoian, Nhatrang, Dalat, Saigon, Phu Quoc.... will make the higher price.

For Example: The best location in Hanoi is near Hoan Kiem lake from 1 to 15 minutes of walk. And on these streets there are many restaurants both local and foriegn styles. How to find out the best cruise for you? You just depend on the tripdvisor reviews. Do not 100% believe the tripadvisor reviews because the tourists just stayed on only 1 cruise. The itinerary is very important. There are 4 cruising routes. The best cruising route is the combination of Halong bay with Bai Tu Long Bay or Halong bay with Lanha bay & Catba island. The cruising route with Suprising cave & Tit Top island is so touristy with so many Chinese tourists - jams on the bay. We do not recommend this cruising route. The Cruising Itinerary is very very important to create a lifetime experience. However, you have nerver taken any of these cruises before and you can not compare. Some cruise itineraries are created for a adventure and off the beaten paths while some other itineraries are classic with touristy crowd. Food - Meals included: The price of your Vietnam holiday tour package also depends on the number of breakfasts, lunches and dinners included. Why Book Hanoi Sapa Halong Bay Tour Package with Deluxe Vietnam Tour Company

Cat Cat village is very very very touristy and it has changed too much with stone & concrete. There are so many shops on the way - each of 500m with a shop. The price here is also high - much cheaper at the market. There is no more cultural relevance with the local ethnic H'mong people. It is also crowded with Vietnamese tourists coming and hiring the traditional ethnic clothes for photos. If you come at their time, you will wait your money and time. Because it is close to Sapa town, the cost for this half day tour is also cheaper than other Sapa trekking tours.

However, The trekking route from Sin Chai village to Cat Cat village is also for a half day tour, but the price is much higher. The car driver has to take you to Sin Chai village and drive to Cat Cat village and wait for you. We have to buy entrance fees for 2 villages. The trekking route is Off the Beaten Track - Much harder and the tour guide has to work harder. We have to pay more for the tour guide, car and entrance fees. And it will be more and more interesting. The Off Beaten Track Route is not for old tourists and family with small kids under 9 year old. Other strongly recommended Sapa itineraries: Cat Cat - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van - Giang Ta Chai - Su Pan for 2days. Cat Cat - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van for 1day. Cat Cat - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai for 1/2day. They are Off Beaten Track trekking tours in Sapa.

Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Tavan Villages Tours: There are 2 ways to do this tour. The walking route of Lao Chai - Tavan villages is also touristy with concrete roads. And It is suitable for the old tourists and the family with small kids under 9 year old. It can be done for half day, but many Vietnam travel agents arrange this walking route for 1 day and it means you will have alot of free time.

The 2nd trekking route of Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van ( lunch at Ta Van village) - Giang Ta Chai villages is for 1 day. Trekking on the otherside of the mountain where there is very very few of tourists or only you. The view is much more beautiful with mountains and terraced rice fields. This route costs more for the car/van/bus and we also have to pay more for the tour guide - work more and get more - it is fair. So the same destination, but different trekking routes will make the price different. Strongly recommend this Sapa trekking tour if your family has no old tourists and small kids under 9 year old.

Matra - Taphin Village Tour in Sapa: It is dirty now because the concrete roads are under contruction. It is so touristic. The local Red Dzao people follow you and try their hard to sell things. Many tourists have felt annoyed. The walking tour is about 1 hour in the village. The Matra - Taphin tour and Taphin village tour are cheap tours and not interesting, but it is ok for the small kids and old tourists.

However, there is an other amazing Off Beaten Track tour from Mong Sen hidden trail to Taphin village because your trek finishes in Taphin where your car picks you up and drive back to Sapa.

Silver Waterfall - Love Waterfall tours in Sapa: They are beautiful waterfalls in my eyes. However, sometimes there is little water. Some tourists sent their reviews for Sapa tours to us. They said they loved the village tours much more than the waterfalls. They said waterfalls are waterfalls. Different travelers - different views. Note: There are many steps and these tours are not for the old tourists and family with small kids.

How to Travel to Sapa: By Train or By Car/ Bus/ Van?

Going to Sapa by night train for 9 hours, you can save money because you do not have to pay for hotel - the cost of the train is just a little more expensive than taking shuttle bus from Hanoi to Sapa. And sleeping on the train is much cheaper than going to Sapa by private car/van. However, 95% of the tourists can not sleep on the train because of the noise and bumpy road up and down the mountain. The old type of railway is 1.2m wide - French style in the 1920s. You can not sleep on the train, so the next day you get tired and can not enjoy the trip in Sapa. Going by night train, you will get to Lao Cai station around 4:30am to 5:20am and it will take 1 more hour by bus to Sapa( Note: The train does not go to Sapa). You can not get the room right on arrival if you do not pay for early check in( 1night more) - check in time is 14:00pm. If lucky, you may get the room around 11:00am. Going back to Hanoi by overnight train, you will arrive around 4:15 to 5:00am. No hotel if you do not pay 1 more night - you will be tired with nowhere to stay.

Note: We can arrange both bus/car/van and overnight train or shuttle bus for your Sapa trip. Going to Sapa by bus/car/van, you will have to pay 2 nights in Hanoi, but going by car/bus/van is smoother on the high way and just take 5 hours or 5 hours and a half. Go in the morning and arrive in Sapa at noon time - Check in and enjoy the lunch. Coming back to Hanoi and your hotel is ready for you. Or you can travel Sapa by night bus from Hanoi
