Should we see Halong bay or Ninhbinh because we have heard they are all karst limestone landscapes?
Oh yes! Same - same but different. They are all karst limestone landscapes. Halong bay consists of all karst limestone islands coming up from the sea water, but in Trangan - Tamcoc - Van Long - Thung Nang - Thung Nham in Ninhbinh includes karst limestone mountains coming up from the river water. The limestone islands and mountains of the two areas are all so amazing with beautiful caves. It is hard to say which one is more beautiful.
However, I can show you the different experience: In Halong bay, you will explore the karst limestone mountains by overnight cruises like floating hotels run by engines but you will explore the karst limestone mountains in Ninhbinh ( Trangan - Tamcoc - Vanlong...) by sampans rowed by local people.
Both Halong bay and Trangan complex in Ninhbinh have been voted as UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites. Trangan is also voted UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site where the local people are living inside the heritage site and the former capital was inside the area, too.
Ninhbinh was voted by the travelers in tripadvisor.com in 2023 as one of the most 25 travel experiences which you have to try. Ninhbinh has everything to offer for luxury family holidays to adventure travel style. Ninhbinh is highly recommended for at least a 2 day trip from Hanoi.
Therefore, if you have enough time, you should see both of them.
The combination tours of Vietnam Cambodia and Thailand should be at least 14days but the best should be 18 to 21 days. The stunning sightseeing & UNESCO Site tours of Vietnam should be 12days and the UNESCO Site tour of Cambodia should be 4 or 5 days and the beach & city tours of Thailand should be 4 or 5 days.

Surely Vietnam is better with so many beautiful beaches with tight budget hotels and world-top-luxury resorts from Central to South Vietnam and it is easy to get to the beaches from amy cities. However, Cambodia has its best beaches on the islands off the coast and it takes more time & more money to get to the beaches. Best Time to Tour Cambodia and Angkor Wat: Cambodia is a small Southeast Asian country, but becomes so famous in the wolrd for its magnificent historical sites—Angkor Wat. This is a vast temple complex, enveloped by lush jungles and steeped in the rich heritage of the Khmer Empire. So when is the best time to travel Cambodia, particularly touring Angkor Wat.
Cambodia's tropical monsoon climate characterized by two main seasons: the wet season and the dry season. The wet season from May to October, is marked by heavy rainfall and high humidity, often deterring tourists due to the potential for travel complications. Conversely, the dry season, which occurs from November to April, offers a more appealing climate for exploration with its relatively cooler weather and minimal rainfall.
Best Time for Visiting Angkor Wat: that is the dry season from November to February stand out as the peak travel season. Moderate temperatures from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F) makes it comfortable for extended periods of outdoor activity. The skies are generally clear, offering unobstructed views of the temples and facilitating easier movement across the sprawling archaeological sites.
Benefits of holidays to Cambodia during the Dry Season: Pleasant Weather Conditions: The dry season’s cooler and drier climate significantly enhances the touring experience. Exploring the intricately carved temples and expansive grounds of Angkor Wat under a bright, clear sky allows visitors to capture the site's magnificence without the hindrance of torrential rain or oppressive heat.
Considerations for the Off-Peak Season: The wet season but the rain often happens in late afternoon and not everyday. The wet season may also present unique opportunities for travelers. The rainfall transforms the Cambodian landscape, making the countryside lush and verdant. The moats and reservoirs around the Angkor temples are filled, creating picturesque reflections and a sense of tranquility not always present during the drier months. Moreover, the reduced number of visitors allows for more personal interaction with the site, without the bustling crowds that can sometimes detract from the serene ambiance of the ancient temples.
During June & July, it is hot in Cambodia and Angkor Wat but it offers really beautiful Sunrise and Sunset over Angkor Wat
