We really enjoyed the trip. Nothing was hurried, and we had plenty of time to stop when we felt like it, have a decent lunch, or sit around for a yarn. The smaller places we stayed were comfortable and friendly, and the people we met along the way made it all the better. Some of the best meals were the simple ones, sitting together and having a good chat.
We saw plenty of Vietnam, but we also slowed down enough to notice how things are done day to day. No rushing from one spot to the next — some days we did a fair bit, other days we took it easy, and that suited us fine.
All up, it was a bloody good trip. We came home with plenty to talk about, and we’re glad we took the time to do it properly.

Why we design today this way:
Northern Vietnam is best discovered at a gentle pace, allowing the timeless limestone karsts of Trang An to unfold slowly before you. Rather than rushing from viewpoint to viewpoint, the day centers on a private sampan journey — drifting through hidden caves, tranquil waterways, and ancient landscapes that seem to reveal themselves only to you. In the morning, Trang An feels like a secret kept for your presence alone. By afternoon, the living countryside opens to your interests: perhaps climbing for a panoramic vista, tracing Ninh Binh’s layered history, or meeting a local artisan whose craft carries generations of tradition. Or simply return to your retreat, where the countryside itself becomes part of your experience.

Day 4
The Limestone Sea
Settle aboard your luxury cruise and Immerse yourself with the Bay at Its Quietest.
Explore Halong Bay UNESCO Site
0 min 26 sec
Sail Into the Limestone Sea: Must-have & Included
A slower side of Vietnam: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your retreat before your private transfer to Halong bay. Travel comfortably through the countryside from Ninhbinh to Halong bay, where limestone islands emerge from the horizon and the pace of your journey begins to change.
There is time to pause and refresh along the way.
Arrive at Tuan Chau pier and step aboard your luxury vessel. Settle into your cabin, enjoy a welcome drink and let the pace of the journey change as the boat moves away from the shore.
Enjoy your lunch and the first limestone islands begin to rise from the horizon. Your cruise is moving further into the quieter waters of Halong Bay - Lan Ha Bay, dramatic karst formations, sheltered coves and open water unfold around you. There is nowhere you need to be in a hurry.
Spend your afternoon simply enjoying the cruise — perhaps from your private balcony, beside the pool or on the sun deck as the landscape slowly changes around you.
Discover a Hidden Lagoon: Take a sampan rowed by local people to explore the stunning lagoon. For a more active experience, kayaking is available to explore the quieter corners of the bay. Alternatively, remain aboard and enjoy the stillness from the deck.
Sunset Over the Limestone Karsts
Later, your cruise anchors in a peaceful part of the bay. Take a swim, relax with a drink or simply watch the changing light across the limestone peaks.
As sunset approaches, stay on deck for the last light when the outlines of the karsts become sharper and the bay noticeably quieter. It is also the Happy Hour - Buy one and get one free - slow down, breathe and relax. After the sunset, you can join the cooking class if you like.
Dinner is served, featuring Vietnamese flavours and fresh local ingredients. The remainder of the evening is entirely yours — linger on deck beneath the night sky, retreat to your cabin or simply enjoy the quiet of the bay.
Signature moment: Into a Hidden Lagoon
Sit on a traditional sampan or kayak, venture into a sheltered lagoon where the limestone cliffs rise directly from the water.
OUR EXPERT'S VIEW
Halong Bay reveals its character most clearly when you linger. Staying overnight gives you time to watch the bay change with the light — evening shadows stretching across the cliffs, dawn mist lifting from the water. At a slower pace, drift into a quiet lagoon, watch the sunset from the deck, and wake among the limestone towers. The bay becomes not simply a place to visit, but a landscape to live within for a while.

Sail among limestone karsts with fine dining, spacious suites, and unforgettable sunrise
0 min 21 sec
Wake Among the Limestone Peaks
Wake early to Halong bay transformed by morning mist and soft light, with the limestone peaks rising quietly around you.
Begin the morning among the karsts:
If you want to know how the morning in Vietnam starts, join a gentle Tai Chi session on deck or enjoy your quiet morning at your private balcony on the side of the limestone landscape.
Have your breakfast aboard before exploring the cave or just relax with a cup of coffee on the sundesk.
Enjoy your leisure & quite morning as the cruise is passing many islands and watch the limestone landscape recede into the distance.
The brunch is served as the cruise is on the way back to Tuan Chau harbor.
A Final Moment on the Water: Before leaving the bay, take your time to enjoy the deck, your balcony or one final excursion. Disembark and meet your private driver for the journey to Hanoi Airport.
Late Afternoon:
Fly to Hue. On arrival, your private transfer will take you directly to your hotel. Settle in and enjoy your evening at leisure. Tomorrow, the story changes again — from limestone landscapes to the imperial world of Hue.
Signature moment: A Morning at the Quiet Bay
Wake up early if you wish. Come upto the deck as the first light touches the karsts and the bay begins another quiet morning. Or just enjoy the quietest bay from your private balcony.
Trip includes: Private transportation, local tour guide, Silk Path Hotel Hue, meals: B - brunch.
Why We Recommend an Overnight Cruise?
One night on cruise gives you something a day visit cannot: time to experience the bay as the light changes, the landscape quietens and the rhythm of the journey slows. Some of our guests have chosen 2 nights and enjoyed so much.
Day 6
The Imperial World of Hue
Discover Vietnam's last imperial capital, where palaces, sacred temples and royal tombs reveal the world of the Nguyen emperors with a local expert.
Explore The World of The Nguyễn Emperor
0 min 24 sec
The Imperial Legacy
Enter the world of Vietnam's last royal dynasty.
After a relaxed breakfast at your hotel, meet your private Hue specialist and enter the Imperial City through Ngo Mon Gate. Rather than simply moving from monument to monument, discover the world behind the architecture — the rituals, ambitions and traditions that shaped Vietnam's Nguyễn dynasty.
Continue with a refined taste of Hue's culinary heritage before leaving the citadel behind for a private boat journey along the Perfume River. At Thien Mu Pagoda - the oldest in Central Vietnam, slow down among the gardens and river views before continuing into the countryside.
Your final imperial experience is yours to shape: explore the intricate artistry of Khai Dinh, the philosophy and landscapes of Minh Mang, or the more personal world of Tu Duc.
One dynasty. Three very different stories. Your local travel designer will help you choose the one that speaks to you.
Tu Duc Tomb - The Poet
Poetic surroundings and a glimpse into the emperor’s personal story
Minh Mang Tomb - The Philosopher
Peaceful gardens and landscapes reflecting the emperor’s philosophy

Day 7
Hoian — Where History Still Lives
A Private journey through an old trading town where history remains part of everyday life.
What will you experience in Hoian?
0 min 24 sec
After a relaxed breakfast, leave Hue, the former imperial city behind and drive along one of Vietnam's most dramatic coastal roads, where mountains descend toward the sea and Lang Co Bay opens below. Cross the Hai Van Pass. A worthwhile place is chosen to pause for scenic scenery along the way, depending on the day's conditions.
Walk Through the Old Trading Town, still alive after centuries.
Arrive in Hoi An and check in at your hotel. Later in the afternoon, head into the Ancient Town. Explore Hoi An with your private local Hoian specialist as centuries of Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and European influence reveal themselves in its streets, architecture and everyday life. Cross the Japanese Covered Bridge and explore the narrow lanes where old merchant houses, places of worship and family businesses still sit side by side.
Visit a Living Family Home - Tan Ky House, meet the family descendant and hear the story of a family home that has remained connected to Hoi An's commercial life across generations.
See Hoi An through the objects and stories that shaped its trading past. Continue to one of the town's historic Chinese assembly halls, where trade, community and faith once came together. Then, visit the museum shows artifacts from Hoi An’s 2,000-year history: ceramics, Cham sculptures, maritime objects, and enjoy views of the old town from the top floor.
Taste Hoi An as You Walk. Discover a few of Hoi An's local favourites along the way — perhaps cao lầu, white rose dumplings, Bun Thit Nuong or other specialities chosen by your guide. The food is not a separate tour; it is simply another way of getting to know Hoian.
Hoi An After Dark As lanterns begin to glow and the Thu Bon River reflects the lights of the old town, Hoi An takes on another character. Take the evening at your own pace while shops and small cafés come alive around you. Explore the evening market, sit beside the river or simply wander without a destination. Take a boat ride along Thu Bon river and float the lit lanterns.
Signature moments in Hoian:
Walk through the Old Trading Town
Hoi An After Dark
Taste Hoi An as You Walk
Step Inside a Living Family Home
A Private Evening on the Thu Bon
Cross the Hai Van Pass
Grand Journey Through Vietnam
9 min 06 sec
Why Our Expert Designed: Slow down. Stay beyond the day-trippers. Hoi An feels alive when you see it as a town still in motion, not simply a collection of monuments. Instead of moving from one old house to the next, pause to notice the families, traders and artisans who continue to shape its streets. Wander through narrow lanes, step into a lived-in family home, taste local dishes, and stay until evening, when lanterns light up and the town shifts into a different rhythm.

Beyond Hoi An - A Day in the Living Countryside together
Where gardens, waterways and family kitchens tell another story.
A slower day beyond the Ancient Town — designed around local life, food and countryside.
Private · Relaxed Pace · Local Life · Culinary Discovery for Family Signature Experience
Why Oour Expert Designed Today Itinerary
For a first journey, we recommend the market → waterways → private kitchen → long lunch combination. It gives you a genuine sense of how Hoi An's landscape, ingredients and everyday life connect.
Beyond Hoian
0 min 27 sec
A quieter side of Hoi An, where waterways, gardens and family recipes shape the day.
Meet your local guide. Visit the market and discover the herbs, vegetables and ingredients that shape everyday Central Vietnamese cooking.
Glide through the Coconut Waterways: Explore Cam Thanh village by traditional basket boat, travelling through the narrow waterways and coconut groves that have long been part of local life. The pace is unhurried here. Your local boatman can show you how the narrow waterways are still used, while your guide explains the role this landscape played in the lives of local communities during the war.
A Private Countryside Kitchen: Rather than following a formal cooking class, spend time in a local kitchen and learn the techniques behind a few dishes that belong to everyday Hoi An. Cook with a local family. Learn the traditional techniques rather than following a long recipe list — how to balance herbs, make rice batter, season a dipping sauce and work with the ingredients. Sit down at the table and enjoy a relaxed countryside private lunch, prepared together and served without hurry.
The experience follows the season, with dishes and ingredients selected around what is freshest that day.
Rice Milk: Made from scratch using traditional rice grinding methods
Rice Paper: Perfect for spring rolls, crafted by hand
Sweet & Sour Sauce: An essential element of Vietnamese cuisine
Hoi An Spring Rolls: Choose between crispy fried or fresh versions
Vietnamese Salad: Light, healthy, and bursting with flavor
Vietnamese Pancakes (Banh Xeo): A deliciously crispy and savory treat
Pho (Noodle Soup) or Grilled Fish in Banana Leaf: Choose between two signature Vietnamese dishes
Steamed Rice: Simple but essential for every Vietnamese meal
Dessert: Grilled banana with sticky rice and rich coconut cream
Or take the slower route:
Prefer not to cook? Spend more time in the countryside instead. Explore the vegetable gardens that supply many of Hoi An's kitchens and discover the herbs that give local dishes their distinctive character. Then, enjoy a leisurely lunch featuring regional dishes, with your guide sharing the stories behind the food and the people who make it.
Signature Moments:
At the Market: Discover the herbs, vegetables and ingredients that shape everyday Hoi An cooking.
Cruise Through the Coconut Waterways: Travel by traditional basket boat through Cam Thanh's quieter waterways.
Step Inside a Private Hoi An Kitchen: Cook with a local host and learn a few traditional techniques.

Day 9
Above the Clouds - Ba Na
Rise above the coast, walk through the Golden Bridge and spend the mountain day your way..
Experience the Iconic Golden Hands Bridge
0 min 14 sec
OUR EXPERT'S VIEW
Ba Na reveals itself as more than a single landmark. The journey up the mountain offers shifting views as the coastline fades beneath the clouds. Once there, walk across the Golden Bridge, explore the gardens and pagoda, or simply enjoy the cooler air. With time to linger, the mountain becomes a retreat rather than a quick stop.
A day above the coast, where mountains, clouds and sea meet.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before meeting your private tour guide. There is no need for an early start; leave Hoi An when you are ready and travel by a private vehicle towards the Ba Na Mountains. The Journey Up: As the cable car climbs above the forested slopes, the landscape gradually opens below — from the mountains to the coast and, on clear days, towards Da Nang in the distance.
The Golden Bridge: Step onto one of Vietnam's most recognisable mountain landmarks, suspended above the forest with the coast stretching beyond. Take your time to enjoy the stunning views and the unusual perspective from the bridge, with the forested landscape falling away beneath you. Your local guide will help you choose the best rhythm for the visit, allowing time for the views beyond the bridge itself.
Beyond the Bridge - Ba Na is more than the Golden Bridge. Continue into the surrounding mountain gardens, your tour guide helps you to choose the areas that interest you rather than try to see everything. If you would like a quieter cultural moment, visit Linh Ung Pagoda, set among the mountain landscape. It is time for lunch before deciding how you would like to spend the rest of your time at Ba Na Hills.
The Afternoon, Your Way: If architecture interests you, explore the French Village, a playful European-inspired mountain setting, a mountain recreation of a European-style town. Or wander around the gardens and enjoy the viewpoints, the mountain air before making your way back down. Keep the day flexible, so there is no need to move from one attraction to the next simply because it is on a list.
Take the cable car down and return to Hoi An by a private car. The evening is completely yours. Return to the Old Town for dinner, relax at your hotel, or simply enjoy a quiet evening. Overnight in Hoian.

Set among forested hills, My Son preserves the temple towers of the Champa civilisation, whose influence shaped Central Vietnam for centuries.
Explore My Son Sanctuary with your private local expert, who will bring the ruins into context — from the beliefs that shaped the temples to the trade and cultural connections that linked the Champa world with the wider region.
The weathered brick towers and carved details are best appreciated slowly. My Son rewards attention rather than speed. Take time to study the weathered brickwork, carved details and surrounding landscape rather than simply moving from one tower to the next. Some questions surrounding the sanctuary remain unanswered. Researchers continue to study its construction, symbolism and techniques — leaving space for interpretation rather than certainty.
A Local Rice Tradition - After the ancient temples, visit a local family home to see how rice paper is traditionally made - the everyday world of the Thu Bon Valley. If you wish, try your hand at preparing a few sheets yourself. Share Lunch with Your Host - Enjoy a home-style meal featuring flavours from Central Vietnam, prepared with ingredients familiar to the local kitchen.
The River Back to Hoi An -
After lunch, take a boat ride along Thu Bon River down to Hoi An. The scenery gradually changes to riverside villages, fields and everyday life along the water. It is a gentler way to end the day — and a fitting return to the town whose history was shaped by this river. Arrive in Hoi An and back to your hotel. Then, free to enjoy as you wish.
Signature Moments:
ECHOES OF CHAMPA - Ancient Champa temples.
Living countryside traditions along Thu Bon river back to Hoi An.
MAKE YOUR CHAMPA DAY YOURS Our recommendation connects ancient heritage with living traditions along the Thu Bon River. Your Travel Designer can adjust the balance around your interests.
MORE HISTORY: A deeper exploration of My Son with your private expert.
MORE LOCAL LIFE: Spend longer with your host and explore the rice-making tradition.
MORE RIVER: Allow more time for the journey back along the Thu Bon.
MORE CULTURE: Add a traditional Cham performance when available.
OUR EXPERT'S VIEW
For your first visit, we recommend giving My Son enough time to understand its story, but not making the sanctuary the entire day. The transition into the countryside and the return by the Thu Bon River create a richer sense of Central Vietnam — from an ancient civilisation to traditions that are still lived today.

Day 11
Saigon After Dark - Family Adventure
A different side of the city emerges after sunset. Private · Contemporary Vietnam · Local Life · Flexible Pace
Our tour recommendation is thoughtfully designed. Your local travel designer can refine it around you.
A Nightlife in Vietnam
0 min 56 sec
Saigon After Dark
When the city changes character, follow it beyond the postcard.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel and keep the morning free. Your private driver will take you to the airport for your flight to Saigon. On arrival in Tan Son Nhat airport, your local team will meet you and take care of your private transfer to the hotel. Check in, refresh and rest.
There is no sightseeing schedule this afternoon. The city can wait. As the afternoon fades, choose how you would like to meet the city.
SAIGON AT STREET LEVEL - Meet your private local expert and experienced scooter driver at your hotel. Ride through the city as the streets begin to fill, seeing Saigon from street level rather than through a vehicle window. Pass historic landmarks - Independence Palace - Central Post Office - Notre-Dame exterior - Saigon Opera..., old apartment buildings, busy intersections and neighbourhood streets as the city moves into its evening rhythm. You are simply a passenger. Your experienced local driver takes care of the traffic while you enjoy the atmosphere around you.
SAIGON BY TASTE- Pause along the way for a few of the city's everyday favourites. Experience the taste of Saigon: Perhaps Ca Phe Sua Da - Vietnamese iced coffee. Perhaps Pho - a bowl of pho. Perhaps a local snack chosen by your guide according to your interests. Return to your hotel when you are ready.
Or — Dinner on the Saigon River - Prefer a slower evening? Board a dinner cruise and watch Ho Chi Minh City gradually light up along Saigon river. Enjoy dinner while the skyline changes around you, then return to your hotel at your own pace. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City
Signature Moments:
Feel the city: Private scooter experience.
Taste Saigon: Street food & Vietnamese coffee
Contemporary culture, architecture & local life
Why we designed the day this way
Saigon is best experienced after the working day ends. Rather than filling the evening with monuments, we recommend choosing one way to experience the city's changing rhythm — at street level or from the river — and leaving enough time simply to enjoy being here.
MAKE YOUR SAIGON EVENING YOURS
Tell your travel designer what interests you most — street life, food, the river, culture or simply a slower evening — and we'll refine the experience around you.

Day 12
Choose Your Family Adventure
Cu Chi: Beneath the Forest or The Mekong — Where Life Moves with the River.
Amazing Journey Through Vietnam
0 min 20 sec
Explore Cu Chi through the landscape, underground life and human stories behind the tunnels.
Enjoy your leisure breakfast at the hotel before meeting your private guide and leaving Ho Chi Minh City. Travel into the countryside, where the landscape gradually becomes quieter and more rural. Along the way, your private local expert introduces the geography and history that made Cu Chi strategically important.
Beneath the Forest - Explore a preserved section of the Cu Chi tunnel network and learn how an underground world became part of everyday life during years of conflict. Your private guide brings the site into context: How people lived below ground, how food was prepared, how the tunnels were concealed and how the surrounding landscape became part of the conflict.
UNDERGROUND — IF YOU WISH
The preserved tunnels are narrow and confined. If you would like to experience a section from below ground, your guide will accompany you. Prefer to remain above? You can explore the surrounding landscape and continue the story from above ground. A SIMPLE TASTE OF WARTIME LIFE Before leaving, taste simple cassava and tea, foods associated with the wartime experience. Return to Ho Chi Minh City and enjoy the afternoon at leisure. Overnight in Saigon city.
Or - The Mekong — Where Life Moves with the River
Leave Saigon behind and follow the waterways into a slower world of gardens, villages and river life.
Journey Through Mekong Delta
3 min 21 sec
OUR EXPERT'S VIEW
The Mekong is best experienced slowly. Rather than filling the day with stops, we recommend following the river, meeting the people whose lives depend on it, and allowing time simply to watch the landscape unfold.
Enter a World Shaped by Water
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel. Leave Ho Chi Minh City behind and travel towards the Mekong, watching the urban landscape gradually give way to orchards, waterways and rural communities. Drive along the highway, passing many rice fields, fruit gardens and small waterways. Your private local expert introduces the region as you travel, explaining how the river has shaped agriculture, trade and everyday life.
Leave The Road Behind. Follow The River. Board your private boat and follow the river through the countryside. Along the way, watch the at work — boats carrying produce, riverside homes, gardens and small communities whose daily lives remain closely connected to the river. From Gardens to Table. Visit local gardens and taste seasonal fruits. If you wish, meet a local family or small producer and see how some of the region's traditional foods are prepared.
A TASTE OF THE DELTA
Settle down for a leisurely lunch featuring regional dishes and seasonal ingredients, with your local expert explaining the stories and traditions behind the food.
INTO THE NARROWER WATERWAYS
Glide through the narrow coconut-lined canals by sampan. The pace slows here, with only the sound of the oars and the water around you.
Take the boat back to the pier and drive back to Saigon.
CHOOSE YOUR WAY INTO THE MEKONG
Our tour recommendation is thoughtfully designed to explore the Mekong beyond the Postcard. Prefer something different? Your Travel Designer can refine the day around you.
By River: Private boat deeper into the waterways.
By Village Road: Explore rural communities by local transport / bicycle / vehicle..
By Taste: Private Mekong culinary experience.
By Water: Sampan through narrower canals.
By Slowness: Spend longer at a riverside retreat or garden.
Visit a local fish farm and learn how river communities have adapted their livelihoods to the Mekong.

Vietnam can be enjoyed year-round, though the ideal timing depends on the regions you wish to explore and the style of journey you prefer.

Ideal for Multi-Country Journeys

periods for comprehensive journeys.
May — August
Best for Coastal Escapes & Summer Landscapes
A wonderful season for luxury beach stays, island escapes, and lush northern scenery, especially for travelers seeking relaxed summer experiences.
September — November
Excellent for Cultural Discovery
Cooler conditions in many regions, golden rice terraces, and quieter travel periods create ideal conditions for
immersive cultural journeys.
April — Oct
Excellent for Photo Trips
Capture breathtaking shots in perfect light.
Because Vietnam stretches across several climate zones, the best itineraries are often designed strategically — combining regions according to seasonal conditions rather than focusing on a single weather pattern. Your designer will adjust the route around the season.
